Can you believe it?
We're 20 years old!
WELCOME! To the official website of the International Coastal Clean Up event in Monroe County, New York State! Here we hope to intrigue you to become active in your community and local environment. This event was established and continues to be internationally sponsored and coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy, and coordinated through out New York State by the American Littoral Society.
This year stands out, as this will be the the 20th Annual Clean Up Event at Durand Eastman Beach. We will be holding our event on Saturday September 21st, sign-in begining at 9:00 A.M. The Sign-In/Weigh Station will be in Parking Lot A on Lakeshore Blvd, near the public access entrance.
The International Coastal Clean Up is a global event with people from all over the world pitching-in to clean their shorelines. In doing so, they not only learn more about their local environment, but also about their relationship to it and their neighbors' as well.
The event began in 1993 at Durand Eastman Beach, through the ambitions and determination of a few rambunctious youth. Over the years, those youth have grown into young adults and, along with their own growth, the event grew as well. What once was a small local event at one beach is now a countywide project.
